Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, the YouTube’s highest-paid star, claims he has “very little money” and is relying on family support to fund his upcoming wedding to fiancée Thea Booysen.
“Ironically I’m actually borrowing $ from my mom to pay for my upcoming wedding lol,” MrBeast wrote on X in response to a post that described him as “the only billionaire under 30 to have not inherited his wealth.”
“I personally have very little money because I reinvest everything,” he explained, adding that Beast Industries, his company, will spend around US$250 million on content this year.
He also noted, “But sure, on paper the businesses I own are worth a lot.”
His estimated net worth is $1 billion, according to Celebrity Net Worth, a website that tracks the wealth of public figures. Last year, Beast Industries reported nearly $500 million in revenue, as reported by Business Insider. In February, Bloomberg stated that the company was raising funds at a valuation of $5 billion.

At 27, MrBeast, dubbed as the “Mozart of the attention economy” by The Guardian, is the world’s most-followed content creator, with over 500 million followers across social media. He is known for his viral challenges, large-scale giveaways, and creative stunts.
He also hosts the reality competition series “Beast Games,” which awarded a record-breaking $10 million in prize money during its first season, with seasons 2 and 3 already confirmed for renewal.
MrBeast met Booysen, a fellow content creator, in 2022 during a visit to her native South Africa. The couple began dating shortly thereafter and made their red carpet debut at the Kids’ Choice Awards in April 2022. They announced their engagement on Christmas Day in 2024.
Speaking to People, MrBeast shared that the wedding would be a more private occasion. “I don’t take many vacations because of how hard I work, so I want to make sure the wedding is a time to celebrate with her and spend time with friends and family,” he said.
Booysen revealed that the couple is considering an island venue for the event, seeking privacy away from the public eye. “We’re thinking of doing it somewhere on an island where we’re far away from just about everybody,” she said.
“We’re not going to try and have a big, extravagant wedding. It’s going to be nice, but it’s certainly going to be intimate [with] close family and friends.”
